Terms of Service
Last updated: October 18, 2026
1. The service
Octopack is a free trading card game built on public GitHub data. Each card represents a GitHub repository or profile. By signing in or using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
The service is operated by Mickaël Alves, France. Contact: alves.mckl@gmail.com.
2. Not affiliated with GitHub
Octopack is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GitHub, Inc., Microsoft, or any of the projects and people shown on cards. GitHub and the GitHub logo are trademarks of GitHub, Inc. Project names, logos and avatars belong to their respective owners and appear for identification only.
3. Your account
- You sign in with a GitHub account. You are responsible for its security.
- One person, one account. Do not create several accounts to collect extra packs.
- You can stop using Octopack at any time and ask for your account to be deleted by email.
4. Packs, cards and collections
- Packs are credited over time at the rates described in the game and are free.
- Cards, packs and collections are virtual items with no monetary value. They cannot be sold, bought or exchanged for money, and we owe you no compensation if they change.
- Card rarity reflects public statistics at the time a set is created. It can differ from the current numbers on GitHub.
- We may adjust pack rates, rarity rules, sets and the game itself to keep it balanced or to fix errors.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts or concurrent requests to obtain packs or cards;
- exploit bugs, or try to bypass or probe the service's security;
- overload the service or interfere with other players;
- submit nominations that are abusive, misleading, or that target someone to harass them.
We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, and remove any item obtained through abuse.
6. Nominations
You can propose a repository or profile for a future set. Nominations are reviewed by the operator, who is free to accept or reject them without giving a reason. By submitting one you confirm that the information you give is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
7. Content takedown
If you own a project or are the person on a card and want it removed, email alves.mckl@gmail.com. We will remove it from the game.
8. Intellectual property
The Octopack name, design, card artwork and code of the site belong to the operator, except for third-party elements, which keep their own licenses. You get a personal, non-exclusive right to use the service. Nothing here transfers ownership to you.
9. Availability and liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranty, and may be interrupted, changed or discontinued at any time. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect losses or for the loss of virtual items. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law does not allow to be limited.
10. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live.
