Collect the projects and people that keep tech alive.
Octopack turns your GitHub tech watch into a trading card game. Every card is a real repository or maintainer, ranked by the stars it earned. Open packs, complete sets, and spot what is rising before everyone else.
Free to play. Your GitHub account is all you need.
Tech watch, without the doomscroll.
Trending pages show you what is loud. Octopack puts you in front of what is real: the library under half your stack, the maintainer shipping quietly for ten years, the project three months from breaking out.
You cannot collect them without noticing them. That is the whole idea.
- Repositories
- Stars, forks and main language, from libraries a hundred teams rely on to tools nobody has heard of yet.
- Profiles
- Followers, public repos and what someone is known for. The maintainers who keep things running.
- Soon
- Commits, releases, discussions. The card format is built to grow with what GitHub exposes.

Rarity is earned, not invented.
A card's tier follows the real star count of the repository behind it (followers for profiles). A tiny utility and a language flagship do not live in the same league, and you feel it the moment one lands in your pack.
Every pack holds five cards, and at least one of them is Rare or better.
New sets are coming.
Each set captures the repositories and people that defined a moment in tech, and more will follow. Chase the full album at your own pace: nothing expires, and older sets stay open to every pack you open.
2026-09
Genesis
September 2026. The first set.
Next set: your call.
Know a repository or a maintainer who belongs in the next set? Nominate them. Every nomination is reviewed before cards go to print.
A collection you will want to finish.
Every card you open lands in an album, one per set. The gaps are the hook: you can see exactly what is missing, and the project you did not know you wanted is one pack away.
- One album per set. Filled slots show what you found. Empty ones show what is still out there.
- Duplicates become copies. Pull the same card twice and your slot reads x2. Nothing is wasted.
- Filter by type. Repositories, profiles, or both, to follow the part of the ecosystem you care about.
Nothing here is for sale.
Octopack has no store, no paid packs and no ads. It exists for tech watch, and to put the people and projects on GitHub in front of more eyes. Cards come from nominations and from what is trending on GitHub, and each one points back to the real repository or profile it came from.
Your GitHub account is the whole signup.
No password to invent, no form to fill, no card number. Octopack only reads your basic GitHub profile to set you up, and it cannot star, follow or change anything on your behalf.
- Click Continue with GitHub and approve access.
- A welcome pack is waiting in your account.
- A new pack lands every 30 minutes, and up to 10 can stack while you are away.
Where this is going.
Octopack is early. Collecting and opening packs works today; the rest is what we want to build next. The order is a direction, not a promise.
